My Kind of Town
My kind of town, Chicago is.
Frank Sinatra
New York may currently have my heart, but Chicago is making a play for it. I had an amazing invitation to visit a dear friend and his partner, to hang out and to see Idina Menzel on her 2015 world tour. How could I turn down an opportunity to visit a city I had only visited in my youth and naiveté.
This time around I was older, wiser, and able to enjoy a good cocktail! Thanks in part to the generosity and hospitality of my friends, I had a spectacular time. Here are some of the highlights.
I was not prepared for the architectural details found everywhere, even in something as simple as a fence. I found Chicago’s architecture more compelling and unique than NYC (gasp!). I may have to visit both a few more times to be sure. ? I love water and I love boats. The Chicago Water Taxi did not disappoint. This is one of my favorites from the trip, even if Dumptrump’s name is visible. Maybe I should photoshop it out…? While not the best of the concert shots I took, Idina’s cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” was touching, and IMHO, the highlight of the show. I love the pure joy of children playing in the water on hot summer days. Street art in Little Siagon. I made to the lake as well. It never ceases to amaze me that this is a lake. Ah, The Green Mill.
